Chairperson

Welcome to our website. I hope you find the information here relevant and useful to you. Working on behalf of the Irish Government, Pobal is committed to being open and accountable to you, and we actively pursue ways to keep you informed about our activities. Our website is one of the ways we do this.

Since 1992, Pobal has granted millions of euros on behalf of the Irish Government and the European Union to thousands of not-for-profit organisations in every part of the country. Our mission is to work on behalf of Government and in partnership with our various stakeholders to improve outcomes, particularly for people experiencing disadvantage and social exclusion.  We are a unique intermediary organisation and you can find out more about our strategic aims and objectives in our Strategic Plan 2014 – 2017.

Like many of the organisations we’ve supported over the years, Pobal relies on the passion, talent and energy of dedicated volunteers. Our volunteer Board of Directors guide our work and ratify grant-making decisions.

If are interested in the wide range of Programmes we manage on behalf of Government and other bodies, we trust you will find the information in the Funding Programmes section of our website helpful. Within the supports and resources pages, you will find relevant information for beneficiary organisations supported under the programmes we manage.

We invite you to visit our Case Studies and Testimonials section to read inspiring case study stories of organisations doing valuable work in communities around Ireland.

Pobal is committed to knowledge sharing and conducts research on an ongoing basis to help identify areas most in need. For example, information provided under ‘New Measures of Deprivation’ highlights recent findings in association with Trutz Haase & Jonathan Pratschke. We are also pleased to include a range of on-line publications which are a practical resource to beneficiary organisations and others.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about Pobal. If you have any comments or suggestions as to how we might further enhance our website, please do not hesitate to email us at enquiries@pobal.ie or call us at 01-5117000.

  CEO, Pobal
