DACT Funded Projects
Joan Burton T.D.

Disability ActivationJoan Burton T.D.

My Department is committed to supporting people with disability to participate more fully in society and to become more self-sufficient by providing supports that address barriers that they may face. The range of innovative projects which we are financing with the support of the European Social Fund will enable us to learn how best to address these barriers.

Minister for Social Protection

Dáil Éireann, Dublin 2

The programme is not open for new applications
The Disability Activation Project (DACT) aims to increase the capacity and potential of people on disability or illness welfare payments to participate in the labour market.
The Disability Activation Project is jointly funded by the European Social Fund and the Department of Social Protection and is targeted at the Border, Midlands and Western region. The target group for this funding is people with a disability aged between 16 and 65.
Following a call for applications from organisations that had experience of working with people with a disability, a total of over €7 million has been committed to 14 projects under four strands:
1 – Improving access to employment
2 – Progression programmes for young people
3 – Support for progression and retention of people with an acquired disability
4 – Innovative employer initiatives
Announcing the funding in 2012, the Minister for Social Protection Joan Burton said: “These projects will provide vital learning to my Department on how best to ensure that people with disabilities are enabled to avail of progression, education and development opportunities.”
