Training & Employment Childcare Programmes (TEC)
The TEC programme supported parents on eligible training courses as well as certain categories of parents returning to work, by providing subsidised childcare places. The programme closed for new applications on 14 February 2020 and it is not accepting new applications.
Those registered on TEC prior to the programme closing for new applications were given the opportunity to move onto NCS or remain on TEC. Those who remained are now on the TEC Saver Programme and retain their existing level for an additional interim period.
The TEC Saver Programme provides childcare support for parents (‘TEC Savers’) in the following ways: on certain education and training courses (CETS), parents working on Community Employment programmes (CEC), and also for families on Family Income Support (ASCC).
Childcare Education and Training Support Programme (CETS)
The CETS Programme provides childcare to training course participants on courses provided by the Local Education and Training Boards (ETB, formerly FAS and VEC) and secondary schools.
After-School Child Care Programme (ASCC)
The ASCC is administered by Pobal on behalf of the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth (DCEDIY) and provides afterschool care for primary school children for certain categories of working parents and parents on DSP employment programmes (not including Community Employment).
Community Employment Childcare Programme (CEC)
The CEC is administered by Pobal on behalf of the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth (DCEDIY) and provides childcare for children of parents who are participating on Community Employment schemes.
